Laser facial rejuvenation gives a very natural and long-lasting effect. It is an excellent alternative to surgical procedures.
By stimulating the skin's collagen, it triggers natural regeneration processes and contributes to a visible improvement in the condition of the skin. What do you need to know about laser facial rejuvenation?
When should you use a laser for wrinkles?
Almost all anti-aging procedures can be performed using a laser. Modern anti-wrinkle lasers are characterized by a variety of applications, often grouped into a single device:
- are an antidote to wrinkles,
- strengthen and firm the skin,
- eliminate discoloration,
- close the capillaries
- remove acne scars.
Experts know everything about laser facial rejuvenation. It is a procedure that can be used at almost any age. Depending on the device and its parameters, it is possible to treat the visible signs of skin aging or to offer treatments that strengthen the condition of young skin in order to slow down the aging process. However, most often people over the age of 30 decide to undergo laser skin rejuvenation when more pronounced wrinkles, discoloration and enlarged capillaries appear on the face.
What is laser facial rejuvenation?
Laser facial rejuvenation is an aesthetic medicine procedure performed by a doctor. The specialist performs a series of laser "shots" aimed at areas of the face requiring intensive regeneration. The energy targets imperfections very precisely and mobilizes the skin to begin its regenerative actions.
The laser emits a beam of light of a specific wavelength, affecting specific chromophores in the skin. Chromophores are substances such as water, melanin (skin pigment), and hemoglobin (blood pigment). Individual substances absorb laser energy, causing a photothermal (or photomechanical in the case of picosecond lasers) effect and resulting in controlled damage to the treated tissues. This way you can eliminate wrinkles, discoloration or dilated capillaries (called spider veins). Fractional lasers, upon contact with water, affect skin cells, stimulating their production of collagen and elastin. Vascular lasers capture hemoglobin and thus cause the blood vessel to close. In contrast, lasers designed to remove age spots react with melanin.
Is laser rejuvenation safe?
Provided that laser facial rejuvenation is carried out by an experienced specialist, using professional equipment and in a specialized center, you can be sure that the procedure will be safe and will bring the expected results. Depending on the device used, the procedure may be more or less painful. For people sensitive to pain, the doctor may use local anesthesia using an anesthetic cream. Be prepared for the fact that irritation, redness and swelling may occur after the procedure. This is a normal skin reaction to laser exposure. The treatment causes controlled inflammation, which stimulates skin regeneration. The temperature caused by laser facial rejuvenation causes an influx of fibroblasts, i. e. cells that produce collagen fibers. Thanks to this, the skin regenerates from the inside.
Since laser facial rejuvenation is based on stimulation of natural processes in the skin, you should be prepared for the fact that the effects will not be immediately visible. First, you need multiple treatments to see visible results. Second, laser-initiated collagen remodeling lasts several weeks or even months. Therefore, to achieve optimal results, one should wait approximately 3 months after the end of laser therapy.
